RA250 stories: hidden treasures of the RA Collection

The RA Collection spans centuries of art history, including books, sculptures, paintings, sketches and artistic ephemera. Many of the artworks are ‘diploma works’ given to the Academy by artists to mark their election as Royal Academicians.

In preparation for the RA’s 250th anniversary in 2018, the Collections team is busy deciding which of these artworks and objects will be exhibited in the new expanded spaces. Collections Project Manager Alexandra Burnett introduces some of her personal highlights and gives us a close-up look at Michelangelo’s Taddei Tondo ahead of its redisplay in 2018.
